Norda Stelo is a consulting engineering firm that services the resource and industrial sector throughout Canada, the US, and internationally. We are growing in a diverse range of industries, including ports and terminals, mining and minerals, construction materials, wood products, and municipal infrastructure.
Norda Stelo provides a flexible work-life schedule with programs such as the Earned Day Off (EDO) program that provides 17 earned days off each year in addition to vacation time. Our schedules are flexible around core hours, and we provide staff with flexibility options to work from home or in the office. Norda Stelo's Vancouver office is located at the Broadway Tech Centre on the corner of Broadway and Renfrew, with convenient access to the Renfrew SkyTrain Station and designated bike routes. Our expertise is diversifying, how about you?
As an integral member of our structural team, your role will include preparing structural designs (steel, concrete, timber), specifications, technical reports, and capital cost estimates. In addition, this position will involve performing field assignments including structural condition inspections for facilities and equipment on site construction reviews and preparing drawings, and proposals.
This position involves travel to job sites on a short-term basis to perform inspection work and requires the ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and other engineering consultants.
Our essentials
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
- The candidate would need to be eligible for or already registered with EGBC.
- Relevant design experience including conveying systems, bulk loading and unloading equipment, buildings, and structural support systems for process equipment.
- Experience conducting seismic dynamic analysis.
- Experience conducting inspections and repairs for infrastructure at ports, marine terminals, and mines for a range of bulk material handling equipment.
- A demonstrated ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants.
- A demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a team.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience with structural modelling software such as RISA, STAAD, others.
- Competency in REVIT is an asset.
- A valid BC driver’s license.
