The team behind the engineering
Reporting to the Vice President, Resources and Industry, the Director, Minerals and Metals segment is responsible for the development, performance, and growth of the entire segment across North America.
As a proven leader in strategy and business development, the successful candidate will be responsible for defining and implementing the strategy for developing the minerals and metals market in North America. He or she will ensure Norda Stelo’s strong positioning among key industry players and will actively contribute to business growth and client diversification.
This segment encompasses activities and expertise related to industrial and metallurgical processes, mining and metallurgical clients, as well as related services and infrastructure, including, the rail and port sectors. The director will be responsible for identifying synergies among these areas of expertise and developing high-value-added, multidisciplinary business opportunities.
Your key responsibilities
Strategic leadership and segment development
Defining and implementing the development strategy and value creation plan for the Minerals and Metals segment across North America.
Providing leadership for the entire segment and mobilizing the teams and expertise needed to achieve growth, profitability, and development objectives.
Developing in-depth knowledge of the minerals, metals, and metallurgy markets, including market trends, upcoming investments, key players, and the competition.
Identifying priority markets, strategic clients, and growth opportunities in North America.
Positioning Norda Stelo as a key player in strategic projects with clients, contractors, partners, and other key industry stakeholders.
Business development and client relations
Developing and strengthening business relationships with key clients in the mining, metallurgical, and industrial sectors.
Identifying and developing new business opportunities related particularly to processes, infrastructure, and transportation and handling activities associated with the mining and metallurgical sectors.
Promoting Norda Stelo’s various areas of expertise and value propositions to clients in this segment.
Developing an integrated approach to create synergies among the various service offerings, particularly in the areas of processes, rail and port infrastructure, and other expertise relevant to client needs.
Ensuring the development of a strong network of partners, collaborators, and strategic alliances throughout North America.
Opportunity development and closing
Participating in identifying, assessing, and prioritizing strategic and multidisciplinary opportunities.
Ensuring strategic positioning early in projects to influence opportunities and maximize development potential.
Overseeing and supporting the sales process, from identifying targets to closing deals.
Participating in Go/No Go decisions and in the development of response strategies for major opportunities.
Contributing to the preparation, approval, and finalization of service proposals, including, when required, partnerships, consortia, and joint ventures.
Performance and governance
Having overall accountability for the performance, growth, and profitability of the Minerals and Metals segment.
Setting and monitoring the segment’s business development, revenue, and performance goals.
Ensuring rigorous management of the opportunity pipeline and business development tools to support strategic decision-making.
Working closely with internal teams to ensure the effective mobilization of the expertise and resources needed to implement the strategy.
Reporting to senior management on performance trends for the segment, markets, and key opportunities.
Leadership and mobilization
Providing inspiring leadership to the teams contributing to the development and delivery of the segment’s activities.
Fostering collaboration among different areas of expertise and business units to develop integrated solutions that address clients’ complex challenges.
Encouraging innovation, agility, knowledge sharing, and skills development.
Contributing to the advancement of service offerings and business models in line with market needs and Norda Stelo’s strategic directions.
Our ideal candidate
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 10 to 15 years of relevant experience, ideally in the minerals, metals, metallurgy, or industrial processes sectors, or in related fields.
Significant experience in business development and managing relationships with strategic clients.
Solid understanding of the North American minerals and metals industry and its key challenges.
Proven ability to develop a strategic vision, identify business opportunities, and lead growth initiatives.
Experience selling sophisticated, multidisciplinary professional or technical services.
Excellent business acumen and the ability to rally teams around a shared vision.
Bilingualism in French and English, a significant asset for pan-Canadian and North American development.
High mobility and availability for travel across North America.
