With our expanding client base and growing project needs, we are looking to add one junior structural engineer to join our dynamic ASSET Integrity & Reliability Management Division.
The position operates in a hybrid work environment, providing flexibility for both remote and in-office work, while requiring periodic short-term site visits to multiple facilities. The office is in our Vancouver office at the Broadway Tech Centre, with convenient access to the Renfrew SkyTrain Station. The Broadway Tech Centre has an array of amenities, including a fitness centre, basketball and volleyball courts, an outdoor BBQ area, restaurants, cafés, bike lockers, underground parking, and a daycare facility.

As an integral member of the ASSET Integrity & Reliability Management Division, you will be involved in performing equipment and facility condition inspections, compiling and writing technical reports and memorandums, completing structural design work and analysis (steel, concrete, and timber), conducting on-site construction reviews, and preparing drawings, fee estimates, and service proposals. The ASSET division has a strong focus on condition inspections, maintenance, and repair/replacement projects which support the ports, mining, bulk materials handling, and construction materials sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design and analyze structural systems in the bulk handling, mining, ports, and heavy industrial sectors. This could include, but not limited to, bulk loading/unloading infrastructure, industrial buildings, marine structures, equipment support structures, conveying equipment
· Preparation of technical reports, design documents, structural repair packages, construction drawings in accordance with relevant codes and standards.
· Participate as the Engineer of Record on a team to carry out condition inspections and assessment works for multiple clients and facilities. This position requires short-term travel to job sites.
· Liaise effectively with client, contractors, consultants, and third parties to ensure successful project delivery and build long-term professional relationships
· Provide support and mentorship to junior engineers
· Contribute to project planning, project management, cost estimation, proposal writing, and scheduling
· Partipcate in internal technical reviews and ensure design quality and constructability.
Our essentials
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC
5 to 10 years of structural engineering experience in industrial facilities.
Strong knowledge of Canadian design codes and standards for steel, concrete, and timber structures (i.e. CSA, NBCC)
Knowledge or familiarity with local building codes, safety standards, and construction practices is a benefit but is not necessarily required.
Some familiarity with American design codes (i.e. AISC, ACI, ASCE) is a benefit but necessarily required.
Proficiency with structural analysis and design software’s (i.e. RISA, SAP2000, STAAD)
Knowledge or familiarity of 2D and 3D drafting software (I.e. AutoCAD, Revit,) is a benefit but necessarily required.
Proven experience in field investigations, condition assessments, and/or field reviews.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to represent the company professionally to client and external stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with proven technical report writing.
A willingness to complete short-term travel to conduct field inspections of heavy industrial equipment.
Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.
